Alárìíyá is best known for their high energy party vibes, delivering a sweet blend of afro-jazz funk rhythms – previously described by TheMusic.com.au as “steaming hot…to have you elevated to the height of happiness”.

Founded in 2014 by Nigerian trumpeter and composer, Olugbade Okunade, who began his career in the Internationally acclaimed afrobeat orchestra, Egypt 80, performing worldwide at Montreal Jazz (CAN), WOMAD (UK, AUS), Coachella (USA) and Fuji Rock (JPN) to name a few.

In 2017, Alárìíyá released their debut self-titled album to a sold-out audience at The Toff In Town, Melbourne’s leading live music venue.

Alárìíyá meaning ‘Party People’ in Nigeria’s Yorùbá language, deliver original compositions in English and Yorùbá captivating audiences and creating positive vibes at every show – including, White Night Melbourne, Moomba, Brunswick Music Festival, St Kilda Festival, African Music and Cultural Festival, Fairfield Summer Series and Queen Victoria Night Markets.

Previous performances have featured blues-funk artist, Keziah Jones (FR/NG) on his 2015 Australian tour, and shared stages with afro-pop artist, D’Banj (NG), rock legends – You Am I (AUS), Sex On Toast, Grace Barbe, Nigerian-Australian – Timomatic, The Foreign Brothers, Black Jesus Experience, The Seven Ups, Sol Nation and many more..
