Martin Zakhharov
Since 1973, Martin Zakharov has been a professional woodwind, keyboard and percussion player, working in film, CD, live TV, theatre and radio productions. Martin has performed with numerous artists in Australia, Europe and North America including: Powderfinger, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Harry Belafonte, James Morrison, Vince Jones, Russell Morris, John Farnham, Paul Grabowsky, Virgil Donati, the Wolfgang Lindner Orchestra (Austrian National TV house band) and the Konstanz Stadttheater (Germany). Festivals performances include the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Moomba, Amsterdam Queen’s Day, and numerous others across Europe and Australia. Martin has performed for many years in major hotels around the world, including the Munich and Vienna Hiltons, the Melbourne Hyatt, Windsor, Sofitel and more.
Currently he works with Afrobeat ensemble, Alariiya, soul/funk band, Relax with Max, Alpine folk group, The Oompah Band, reggae band, T-Rhythm (nominated for Best Global/ Reggae Album in the 2015 Age Music Awards) and cabaret group, Kommissar Kabaret, in the 2015 and 2016 season of Rushin’ Rabbit at The Butterfly Club, Melbourne.
Martin is also the musical director of multi-media jazz band, The Sounds of Silent, performing for silent movies at festivals and cinemas around Australia.
Martin has been with Alárìíyá since 2014 and brings his music composition skills and versatile range of instrument performance to the band.
