Alastair Beattie

Alastair Beattie has been immersed in music from a young age, starting out in voice and piano. At 15, he completed a short course in audio engineering and starting mixing for local performances, musicals and school events. By 16, Alastair had started playing bass and went on to perform with metal outfit, REDRUM, coming first place in the 2008 Hills Idol band competition.

In 2011, Alastair studied a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music (Music Composition) at Box Hill Institute and developed a passion for electronic music production. Alastair is a talented bass player who strives for exacting, yet expressive elocution. He currently performs with psychedelic funk group The Upstanding Members, and afrobeat ensemble Alàrìíyà.

When Alastair isn’t on stage or in the studio, he enjoys working for Burning Seed’s Department of Planning and Infrastructure, as well as volunteering for other art projects, events, and the emergency services.

Alastair is a recent edition to Alárìíyá and brings his dedication in bass performance to hold down the groove.
